Pregnancy and Postnatal Massages

Pregnant lady holding her tummy to be massaged in a loving manner

My Mission

At Mummy Wellness, I offer one hour massages for mummies at all stages of pregnancy, whether that be pre or post natal, leaving you relaxed and prepared to take on the day! This will be in your own home as it eliminates any stress and means that you can relax afterwards without worrying about getting home (you may be feeling quite sleepy after the massage).

As with any massage, this hour of relaxation is all about YOU and I will always tailor the massage to meet your needs.

Pregnancy Massage

Depending on your stage of pregnancy, your massage may be laid down on your back, your side or seated. You will have special pillows and bolsters to make you more comfortable. I use long relaxing massage strokes and techniques to deliver a massage which has many benefits:

Reduced Aches and Pains

Pregnancy can trigger many aches and pains due to increased weight and changing posture, sometimes causing real discomfort. My massages can help alleviate the pain of relaxing tight muscles and gently improving range of motion.

Less Sciatic and Pelvic Pain

Hormones during pregnancy which loosen ligaments plus the weight of the baby can cause pelvic and/or sciatic pain. Massage can help ease pain around the joints and ease the pressure pushing down.

Bonding with your Baby

Having some me time during a massaged, helping you to slow down and focus on your growing baby.

Improved Sleep

Massage helps to relax muscles and make you feel calmer and more comfortable, leading to a better night's sleep.

Reduce Ankle and Feet Swelling

Increased blood volume and reduced blood pressure can contribute to sore, swollen ankles. Massage can help improve circulation and reduce swelling.

First Stage of Labour

My massages can help you to feel calmer, more in control and more able to the the contractions in labour.

Postnatal or Postpartum Massage

Giving birth can be traumatic both mentally and physically. A massage after giving birth (a week after a vaginal birth or four to six weeks after a c-section) is thought to carry many benefits:

Reduced Muscle Tension

My massages relieve muscle tension which comes from lifting, holding and breast feeding.

Improved Sleep

By aiding relaxation, massage could improve the quality of your sleep which is essential considering the limited amount of sleep mummies  tend to have!

Reduced Swelling

A postnatal massage can help improve your circulation and lymphatic drainage and thus help reduce swelling.

Mental Health

New mummies are focusing most of their time and attention on their new babies.
